When I began consulting with Jenee on the design for her wedding invitations, it was clear from the startthat it was going to be a "FUN FUN" process. Jenee is herself a creative and stylish New York transplant who designs handbags and blogs about the fashion world and her fun fun lifestyle. She's such an energetic and exuberant gal that in two seconds flat she had us all wrapped up in the magnetic pull of her vision and her sweet southern charm. Check out the wonderful collaboration we pulled together for her and the love of her life, Ari.
We knew that wedding invitations would need to fuse the vibrant culture of Jenee's cajun upbringing with the rich tradition of her fiance's Jewish heritage. Throw in the fact that both Ari and Jenee are daily yoga practitioners who found each other through the practice of yoga, and have lived abroad for years at a time, and we had plenty to work with! How do you fit all of this shared history into one invite? How about a ven diagram!
Jenees roots in China (where she worked and designed) and Ari's roots in South America and Israel(where he played competitive soccer) have made them scores of friends all over the globe who'd be traveling to share their special day. This couple would have hippies and chuppahs, the universal OM, cooked up down home and lots of chutzpah with just a dash of mardi gras.
So our challenge was to somehow, "pull together" all these elements and to re-introduce all of the couples invited guests to the story of their connection to each other, as well as the auspicious event of their wedding on buddha's bday and their ecclectic cajun, jewish bi-cultural roots! Phew, talk about a gumbo! See what we cooked up for these two sweethearts. And check out their first dance here.
Mazel Tov you two!
